Walnut
Apple Dessert
Featured in: "Turning Season"
In a large bowl, combine apple slices with ¼ cup brown sugar and the cinnamon. Place apples in a greased 13x9-inch. baking dish or cake pan.
In another bowl, cream butter and remaining brown sugar. Beat in eggs. Stir in flour and 1/2 cup walnuts. Spread batter over apples. Sprinkle with remaining walnuts. If desired, mix a bit of sugar and cinnamon in a small dish and sprinkle on the top. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-55 minutes.
This is a great way to enjoy fall flavors any time of year. It’s sort of a cross between cobbler and cake, with a generous layer of sliced apples on the bottom and a batter dabbed on the top. Don’t like walnuts? Chopped pecans would be good, too. Serve with whipped topping or ice cream.
